The Baudisch.EMC lab - a perfect EMC service at Baudisch
EMC stands for electromagnetic compatibility. Every technical equipment sends electric or electromagnetic pulses. The tests for electromagnetic compatibility make sure that the equipments do not affect each other which may occur functional disorder. The product must be resistant of interference.
Changes in the market demand new products. Longlasting products fall under the provisions of the RoHS and WEEE, must be re-designed and EMC tested again. Not the least, good EMC characteristics of a product are essential quality features.
When the chance came to acquire a complete laboratory as well as the lab manager, the decision was made quickly.
With Mr. Günter Bender as the new head of laboratory, many years experience in reference to standards, measurements and suppress interference joined our development team.
True to the motto "everything under one roof" was the relocation of the laboratory from the previous location in Stuttgart to Wäschenbeuren the right decision.
For more than 10 years, the EMC laboratory with 2 measuring chambers and extensive measuring equipment for interference resistance and emitted interference as well as a TEMpact measuring cell is always available for the versatile tasks of our customers and hardware developers.
The laboratory offers independent services:
- Advice on EMC compliant development & design
- Metrological testing of the EMC conformity
- Interference suppression and elimination of discrepancies
- On-site analysis and measuring in the field
Our laboratory is very flexible in that we also process measuring tasks at a short notice for you.
Through our modern facilities, we are able to conduct a wide range of EMC measurements.
We can test according to EN standards, IEC standards or according to customized requirements.
For the interference resistance:
- RF radiation up to 2GHz, according to EN 61000-4-3
- Discharge of static electricity, according to EN 61000-4-2
- Fast transients, burst, according to EN 61000-4-4
- High-energy single pulses, according to EN 61000-4-5
- Coupling of high frequency unbalanced, according to EN 61000-4-6
- Magnetic fields with energy technical frequency, according to EN 61000-4-8
- Voltage dips, fluctuations and short-term disruptions, according to EN 61000-4-11
For the emitted interference:
- Conducted emission: 9 kHz to 30 MHz, according to EN 55011, EN 55022, inter alia
- Blasted: 30 MHz to 1 GHz, according to EN 55011, EN 55022, inter alia
- Interfering power with MDS injection probe 30 MHz to 300 MHz
Many regular customers from Germany and neighboring countries are already pleased with this service offer and that we are able to address their specific requirements.
Test procedure
The EMC lab is equipped with two computer-controlled chambers, a TemPACT measuring cell as well as several test stations.
Normative measurements of unit sizes up to a 19“ equipment rack are possible.
For larger devices and systems, we conduct preliminary tests during the development. Final inspection and acceptance follow quickly and effectively by an external partner based on these tests.
Extract from the services of the laboratory:
- Static Discharge with ESD generators
- Effects of RF radiation with generators, RF amplifiers and a TEMpact measuring cell
- Fast transients disturbances ( bursts )
- Surge voltage with hybrid generators
- Conducted RF coupling
- Power supply influences, reductions and interruptions
- Magnetic fields with energy technical frequency
- Measurements of the radio interference voltage
- Measurements of the interference power on transmission lines
- Measurements of the RDI field strength
- There are modern computer-controlled measurement stations in two shielded chambers available
- For on-site measurements are portable analyzer and measurement equipment available
Quality - a must for every product
As an important quality requirement, the EMC should accompany the production process of a product through all stages of development:
- Circuit Design, Layout Design
- Accompanying development tests
- Type testing, acceptance tests
- Documentation
- Product release
The Baudisch.EMC lab can accompany a product through all phases of the product development. Our customers benefit from our experience. Applications are found in the following areas:
- Optimization of the circuit layout
- Positioning of components on the PCB
- Shielding and grounding
- Cabling and wiring
- Optimized filtering
