ProfiControl

Safe access control as well as time recording for larger companies and public organisations

Baudisch.ProfiControl is an independent system for convenient access control and time recording using a journal.

Installed on a compact flash disc, the software runs on a small, compact top hat rail PC, the socalled Baudisch.ControlCenter.

As with all systems in the Baudisch.ControlSeries, the recording is made using transponder chip and transponder reader.

Various parameterisation allows for flexible adaptation to the given access situation.

Possible applications

The Baudisch.ProfiControl system is ideal anywhere where doors and gates must be opened reliably via transponder chips - as a company safe solution, regardless of the availability of PCs and operating systems with high maintenance.

Baudisch.ProfiControl can be used across all industries and can be adapted to very specific requirements. It is ideally suited for separated buildings and suits organisations where the main office is located away from branches and storage locations.

Examples such as large fire departments which use the Profi.Control for the immediate opening of all gates in case of alarm as well as for the evaluation of times or police stations which value the immediate closure of all doors at an alarm and the related logging, show the flexibility of the Baudisch.ProfiControl.

The Baudisch.ProfiControl finds an application in all security related areas in industry, service, medicine and research.

Performance characteristics

Baudisch.ProfiControl is a system which regulates the access of 250 people ( expandable up to 1000 people ), 16 doors/gates and 16 time periods ( expandable to up to 63 doors and 64 time periods ) using web application.

It includes an attendance display ( e.g. on-call duty ), a time recorder as well as the ability to operate all doors directly on the web interface i.e. to lock all doors regardless of configurations and transponder readers.

Individual users, different switching times for events as well as chip reader and switching module can be configurated.

The system receives the data collection over the transponder reader which is connected to the Baudisch.EasyLan fieldbus as well as the dry contact switching inputs which for example can detect the arming of the alarm.

Switching modules for the door opening are connected to the EasyLan fieldbus as well. Furthermore, two relay outputs directly on the Baudisch.ControlCenter allow additional signalling.

Access control

The access control regulates the door / gate / barrier opening to non-public areas. It allows for the distinction by person, by time and access.

Porters can trigger a manual opening via a PC web interface, failures and manual actions are documented.

Functions for special cases such as for example the general door opening in case of fire, the closure of all doors for security purposes or the disabling of access after arming the alarm system are also available.

Lost transponder chips are simply deleted from the system. The necessary replacement of the key cylinder by the locking systems is omitted.

Attendance and time recording

Attendance or beginning and ending of work are recorded through two appropriately configured transponder readers. The presence of a person can be viewed in a separate list at any time. The evaluation is made through a separate dialog box in which the time recording data of a single person or all users can be displayed and queried.

Of course, this analysis can be exported and is available for further processing in either TXT-, CSV- or XLS-format.

Journal

The implemented journal in ProfiControl records constantly, what occurrence ( activity ) where, by whom and when is taken place. This journal can easily be exported for further analysis.

Remote maintenance

If necessary, remote maintenance functions can be activated at the hardware of the Baudisch.ControlCenter. You have access to all major functions of the system from your PC via the integrated network connection of the device.

A connection is also possible via the internet, so that the distance no longer matters. Prerequisite is that username and password are available.

To access the remote maintenance, the two most common network protocols, HTTP ( Hypertext Transfer Protocol ) and FTP ( File Transfer Protocol ) are implemented.

Operational safety

The remote access can be enabled or disabled via a switch on the device. After the system is configured and has passed the test run, the remote functions can be disabled and this way the system security can be increased even further.

Why Baudisch.ControlSeries?

There are many systems for access control and time recording - ranging from classic cylinder locks or time clocks to sophisticated and complex electronic systems. Depending on the design, but nearly all construction-conventional systems have disadvantages. Complicated operation, error rate and lack of comfort have been the main problems.

Many reasons, therefore, to choose a systems where all requirements are fulfilled. Reliability, ease to use, convenient expandability and easy installation are important characteristics that must be met. Reasons that speak for a solution from the Baudisch.ControlSeries.

There is a simpler way...

Compared with standard procedures for time recording and access control based on PIN numbers, data collection terminals, mechanical keys, chip and magnetic card readers, the used transponder technology from Baudisch offers a number of advantages.

The detection of a transponder is contact-free, which prevents wear on the transponder or reader. No PIN must be memorized, no contacts can contaminate or oxidize, stored information can not be erased by magnetic fields or made unusable.

The procedure

Each transponder is pre-programmed individually with its own key number. A transponder reader generates a weak magnetic field with a few cm range. Now, if a transponder is held in this magnetic field, the internally stored key number in the transponder chip is transmitted to the transponder reader. The transmission from transponder to transponder reader is via air. The reader records this number and reports it together with its own code to a central unit. This central unit collects working hours and decides further over the authorisation of the imported combination of "key" and "lock". Doors are opened or remain closed accordingly.

Depending on which system of the Baudisch.ControlSeries, these messages are also saved and can be evaluated as needed.

The communication

Readers, control and central units communicate over the Fieldbus "EasyLan," a product developed by Baudisch Electronic. Data is transferred in a specially encoded and secure digital process, so that manipulation is not possible.

The connection is made via three wires of a standard 2 communication cabel e.g. n x 2 x 0.6 mm J-Y(ST)Y and can be implemented with distances up to 1,000 meters between the individual components. The devices in the ControlSeries are compatible with each other. Thus, already connected components can continued to be used in a system upgrade.

Appropriate modules are available for the implementation of "EasyLan" to standard Ethernet, RS232 or USB. The integration of PC's or the networking of individual "EasyLan" bus segments is therefore easily possible.

Safety first

To open the door unauthorized by manipulation of the transponder reader is impossible. The code of the transponder is simply identified and forwarded.

The decision of authorisation access which opens the door is made in the central unit, which controls the electric door opener on a separate switch module. This switch module is a programmable two-channel relay unit. Since the central unit and switch module are located in the building, the system is protected against abuse.

Power outage

In such a case, the so-called "fallback level" comes into play. This term is referred to an emergency system, which ensures the implementation of the most important functions in case of main system failure i.e to open a locked door.

The working hours

The same components are used for the recording of working time as for the access control, i.e. transponder chip and transponder reader. For each type of working hour entry ( beginning hours, ending hours and business trip ), a separate transponder reader is installed and configured according to its function. The transponder for the door also serves the recording of the working hours.

The advantages

In case of loss of a conventional key, usually the associated lock or the complete system must be replaced. Apart from the time and effort, mostly it generates significant costs.

Unlike the series of systems of the Baudisch.ControlSeries: the authorisation of the chips can always be deleted without having to replace parts of the system. Also, authorisations of new transponders are entered in no time in case additional chips are needed or to replace lost ones. Deleted chips are rejected as unknown until they are reestablished.
No expensive data collection terminal for the time recording has to be installed in hallways or entrances, which operation must be taught separately usually with considerable effort. Depending on the system, each employee may retrieve his current data at any integrated PC in the system, which takes off a major burden from accounting.
